This is a great exercise to get your fingers in shape.


Right hand
Play the string down – up – down – up which is called alternate picking. Hold the pick not too hard but just enough so the pick does not shake around in your fingers.
Left hand
Place your index finger on the 6th string 1st fret. Pluck the string down with your right hand.
Place your middle finger on the 6th string 2nd fret. Pluck the string up with your right hand.
Place your ring finger on the 6th string 3rd fret. Pluck the string down with your right hand.
Place your pinky finger on the 6th string 4th fret. Pluck the string up with your right hand.
Move on to the 5th string and repeat.
6th – 5th – 4th – 3rd – 2nd – 1st – 2nd – 3rd – 4th – 5th – 6th
Start from the 2nd fret and move on.
